Are Prescription Drugs Really Helping?

In the world of traditional medicine, the only way to help people deal with health issues is typically with drugs or surgery. Today, for more and more Americans, taking prescription drugs is the only way that they know, to “feel better”. Every day we watch hundreds of television commercials that normalize this drug-dependent way of life. However, we must ask ourselves, how much good are these drugs really doing, and what are the risks involved? Here are just a few examples of common drugs, and their side-effects:

Drug Recommended Use: Listed Side Effects:
Prilosec Gastrointestinal problems Diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain
Zoloft Anti-depressant Severe mental or mood changes
Antibiotics Bacterial infections Decreased resistance to infection
Procardia High blood pressure Rapid heart beat
Aciphex Gastric pain Upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea
Advair Improve lung function, asthma Difficulty breathing, wheezing

When reading the side-effects of these common medications, it almost sounds comical! Many people read the list of possible side-effects, and say, “No thank you! I’ll stick to the one problem that I already have!” We can make light of the situation that we are in, but it truly isn’t very funny. Especially when you consider that adverse side-effects from medicine and surgery is the third largest cause of death in the United States, only behind Heart Disease and Cancer. This is a frightening statistic, and it is not common knowledge.

Certainly, traditional medicine has its place and purpose. However, what if society were to embrace the possibility that there is a better way? What if we began to look at the root of the problems, and go directly to the source? Interference in the nervous system (caused by Subluxation) is a major cause of many health issues. Yes, we must eat right, and maintain physical activity, but if we neglect our nervous system, we may be putting ourselves at risk.

If you or someone that you love is dependent upon prescription drugs, please tell them, there may be a better way and Discover Health and Wellness may be able to help!
